Please help us keep spurn wild and stop the ywt

We need your help , if you love spurn as an unspoilt place then please help us NOW! To #keepspurnwild AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO EVERYONE WHO LOVES SPURN AND KILNSEA. Please object using one or more of these point IN YOUR OWN WORDS! ??? The application is for a two-storey building with a 23 metre mast on a little meadow near the Canal in Kilnsea. It is totally unsuitable in a Heritage Coast. ??? The building will be visible from everywhere in Kilnsea. It will destroy beautiful wild landscape and views. ??? The YWT also want to put a large car park in a field across the road. ??? The YWT want to double or treble the numbers of visitors to Kilnsea even though no-one can drive down Spurn any more. This should not be allowed in a Heritage Coast. ??? They want to close the gate to Spurn and make people take a different route across to the sea. This will be difficult for people in wheelchairs, with buggies and bicycles. And they cannot close the gate as it is a public right of way. This should be stopped. ??? Highways have told them that the road is not wide enough and they will have to widen it. So we will lose grass verges and more habitat if they get their way. Kilnsea will be spoilt by this development ??? A large building with café and toilets and no mains drainage will likely cause more flooding as all the effluent will go into local dykes. ??? The extra traffic in a small village will be hazardous. When the visitors were able to go down the peninsula they were only passing through. Now they will be stuck in a dead end. ??? The YWT say local businesses will benefit. Which ones? How? The only business which will benefit is the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust with car parking charges. No one has ever paid to park in Kilnsea so people will park anywhere they can. It will cause chaos. ??? Spurn is a precious place, and the YWT does not care for it properly. Where have the staff been since December 2013 when the North Sea surge happened? We never see them. ??? The YWT already have a visitor centre at the Blue Bell which they don???t use properly. The café isn???t open when it needs to be. If they must expand they could buy the building next door or Southfield Farm, both of which have been offered at market rates. So why destroy precious habitat, spoil a lovely landscape, take over a little village? If you think this should be stopped you need to write giving your opinion (feel free to use anything above) before February 9th to Planning and Building Control, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Beverley HU17 9BA or email [email protected] You need to cite the ref number 15/03947/PLF. Please save our lovely Heritage Coast of Spurn from exploitation.

Maintenance time

Posted by richard on November 29, 2014 at 2:35 AM Comments comments (0)

Well the year has flown by, we're forecast a wet winter but up until now it's been quite mild, there's lots of activity in the area, flood defences outside the pub and the estuary and laying footpaths around the lagoons and bird hides for disabled access. So I am taking the opportunity to have a short break and catch up on some maintenance and close for a month or two?

so take care you guys, wrap up warm and it's only 5 weeks until 2015, so see you all soon.

Winter approaches

As winter approaches the site will be quiet for those who want total solitude and walk on baron beaches, then to sit by one of the open fires in the crown watching across the estuary as the ships go in and out of the Humber.....sounds good to me and I'm here every day :-)

remember I'm open all year round , still fully booked this coming Halloween weekend as we're having a party with a few cheeky drinks and the odd ghost story ....boo!

For those who like the sun on your face and the flowers in bloom, it won't be long until your here again , so see you soon but first it will be ho ho ho as Xmas approaches fast instead of my usual hi de hi ...
